The convention-district workhorse observant Jerusalem actually uses — 360 rooms, glatt-level kashrus, an indoor pool with reported separate hours, and one of the city's largest simcha ballrooms. (Not to be confused with the VERT Jerusalem — a different hotel; we clear that up below.)
First, Which Hotel Is This? (We Fixed Our Own Mistake)
Full transparency: an earlier version of this page called this hotel "Vert Jerusalem (formerly Ramada)" — and that was wrong. They are two unrelated hotels. This page is about the Ramada by Wyndham Jerusalem at 6 Ze'ev Vilnay Street by the Ruppin Bridge — still actively branded Ramada, known to old-timers as the "Renaissance" (the building reportedly dates to 1984), part of a two-hotel complex with the Royal Jerusalem Hotel next door. The VERT Jerusalem is a different building entirely: the former Hilton-then-Crowne-Plaza tower, rebuilt as a 138-room AFI hotel. If a quote, review, or kashrus claim names one, it does not apply to the other.
The Honest Read
The Ramada is not a boutique and knows it: 360 rooms in the museum/convention district, engineered for exactly three things — groups, simchas, and value at a serious kashrus level. Guest scores run genuinely strong (8.3/10 across roughly 2,500 reviews at our last check), with the breakfast, cleanliness, and transit convenience earning the praise. Weekend after weekend it fills with observant families doing exactly what the building was made for: a bar mitzvah in the ballroom, the whole family upstairs, and full board through Shabbos.
The Kashrus, Exactly
- The level is consistent everywhere: Mehadrin / Glatt. Two kosher restaurants operate on-site — a dairy coffee shop and Timna, the meat restaurant.
- The certifier wording varies by source — the hotel's own Hebrew site references Rabbanut Yerushalayim Mehadrin with OU and Glatt; Pesach program operators have advertised "Badatz Mehadrin Jerusalem and OU"; booking platforms flatten it to "glatt kosher property." Those aren't contradictions so much as loose wording, but we won't hard-code one body's name as final. The current teudah settles it — we request it in writing for every placement here. Shabbos at the Ramada
- Friday-night full board is included with the room — the hotel's own booking terms say so. That's rarer than you'd think, and it means the seudah isn't a surprise line item.
- Shabbos-aware check-in: on Shabbos and Yom Tov, check-in opens two hours after sunset. Arrive before candle-lighting on Fridays.
- Davening: an on-site shul — Sephardi / Edot HaMizrach services are reported — and guests independently mention a twice-daily minyan. Bringing a group with its own minyan? Reserve function-room space for it explicitly when you book the block.
- Shabbos elevator: not documented either way in any source we found — ask when booking; we do.
The Pools — Precision Where It Counts
Two pools, and the distinction matters: an indoor semi-Olympic pool — for which separate men's and women's hours are reported — and a seasonal outdoor pool, for which no separate schedule is published anywhere (assume mixed). Published separate swim hours are genuinely uncommon in Jerusalem hotels; if this is a deciding factor for your family, we'll get the current indoor-pool schedule from the hotel in writing rather than let you rely on a travel-site summary. There's also a fitness center, spa and sauna, and an outdoor tennis court.
Simchas & Groups — The Real Numbers
- Ten function rooms, from small breakouts up to a Grand Ballroom reported to seat 1,000+ — total capacity 1,200 banquet-style or 2,600 conference-style (Wyndham's own published figures; our earlier page's "50–200" wildly understated this).
- The complex advantage: the adjacent Royal Jerusalem Hotel shares the campus — 613 rooms and eleven banquet facilities combined. For a wedding where every guest sleeps on-site, almost nothing else in Jerusalem matches it.
- Pesach: the hotel hosts full Pesach programs (with mehadrin-level catering advertised) — book those months ahead through an operator or through us.

Partially — and precision matters here. The hotel has two pools: an indoor semi-Olympic pool and a seasonal outdoor pool. The separate men’s/women’s hours are reported for the indoor pool specifically. No source describes separate hours for the outdoor pool, so assume it is mixed unless the hotel confirms otherwise. Even indoor-only, published separate hours are genuinely uncommon among Jerusalem hotels — confirm the current schedule for your dates.

No — honest answer. It sits in the museum/convention district by the Ruppin Bridge, about a 10-minute drive (roughly 2.2 miles) from the Kotel. What it IS close to: the Central Bus Station, the light rail, and Binyanei HaUma — guests consistently praise how easy it is to get everywhere by car or transit. Book it for the capacity, the kashrus, and the value; not for a Shabbos walk to the Kotel.
