The Koresh is a small independent budget hotel — 29 rooms at Koresh Street 3, steps off Zion Square in downtown West Jerusalem, currently open and actively bookable. Guest scores run genuinely decent for the price (roughly 8 to 9 out of 10 depending on platform). And here is the fact every booking site omits: we found no kosher certification for it anywhere.
The honest fit
The kashrus, plainly: no hechsher, supervising rabbi, or kosher claim appears on any listing, directory, or the hotel’s own materials — and it is absent from every kosher-hotel directory of Jerusalem, including our own 23-hotel list. Treat it as an uncertified hotel: fine as a place to sleep for a traveler doing their own kosher eating (the city center’s certified restaurants are outside the door), but not a hotel whose kitchen or breakfast you can assume anything about. If the hotel shows you a current teudah, that changes the answer — we always ask.
Two name traps worth flagging: the King Koresh Hotel is an unrelated property in Netanya, and "Koresh 10 — Josephine Suite" is a separate apartment listing a few doors down the same street. Check the exact name and address on any quote.
The location is the real product: Zion Square at the doorstep, Ben Yehuda around the corner, the Jaffa Road light rail moments away, and the Old City a realistic walk. An elevator exists; whether it runs in Shabbos mode is unconfirmed — ask directly if it matters.
For an observant family that wants a certified kitchen at a budget price, the honest comparison is Hotel Litov (Badatz Mehadrin of Harav Rubin, value tier) or Jerusalem Gate (Badatz Mehadrin Rabbanut + OU, one of our four partner hotels).
