Hotel proximity.
Sharfman's is more central than Bayit Vegan-based seminaries — the walk to all four JRM hotels is shorter, and the walk to the Old City from the seminary neighborhood is also realistic. That opens the Old City Shabbos option.

The Old City Shabbos option.
This is the move most Sharfman's families make at least once during the year: your daughter signs out of the dorm, walks with you to the Old City Friday afternoon, you spend Shabbos in the Jewish Quarter — seudos at the Kotel Plaza, davening at the Kotel Friday night and Shabbos morning, Shabbos afternoon walking the Old City streets you don't get to experience during weekday Kotel visits. Motzei Shabbos, you walk back to your hotel together.
For this to work: your hotel must be within a 25-30 min Shabbos walk of the Jaffa Gate. Haneviim Boutique is the best fit — it sits on Haneviim Street, 15-18 min from the Jaffa Gate and 10-12 min from Sharfman's. Prima Palace also works. Jerusalem Gate is borderline. We coordinate an Old City host family or Shabbos meal block if you want a larger experience.
The delicate balance.
Sharfman's is a smaller seminary with a strong personal culture — the menaheles will probably recognize your daughter by name and ask about her year so far. That warmth cuts both ways: if you push too hard to extract her from dorm life, the menaheles notices. Best Sharfman's parent trips are the ones where you come for parent weekend, take her to the Kotel for mincha, have seudah together Friday night, take her out for a café Motzei Shabbos, and release her back to her year. Shorter and more present.
Booking timing.
Parent Shabbos fills 3-4 months out. For Cheshvan 2026, book this Iyar/Sivan. Chanukah 3-4 months out. Pesach visits are typically booked as part of a Pesach package 6-9 months out (different timing). Shavuos 3-4 months.
