The Visit Windows
BMG Yerushalayim talmidim follow a Lakewood-flavored rhythm rather than a single marquee parents' Shabbaton. That sounds less structured — and it is — but it also means more flexibility in picking your week.
| Window | When | Character |
|---|---|---|
| First-year settle-in | Early Cheshvan | For first-year parents; their son has just moved in |
| Chanukah week | Mid-late Kislev | Most popular mid-year window; intensive seder schedule |
| Purim weekend | Adar | Three days; BMG Yerushalayim chagiga is intense |
| End-of-zman | Late Iyar or early Av | Pre-bein-hazmanim; graduating or transitioning talmidim |
Hotel Proximity — the Ramot Reality
BMG Yerushalayim sits in Ramot, on the northern/northeastern edge of Jerusalem. There is no kosher-hotel cluster in Ramot itself — every realistic parent-trip hotel is a taxi ride away during the week.
Ramot is a significant distance from central Jerusalem, so Shabbos walk times to the yeshiva are long — we confirm the exact logistics in your pre-arrival brief. That shapes how we plan the Shabbos portion of the trip.
| Hotel | To BMG | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Jerusalem Gate | Short taxi / Shabbos-walk time confirmed in your pre-arrival brief | Most popular BMG parent choice; value-tier for extended chevra |
| Prima Palace | Short taxi / Shabbos-walk time confirmed in your pre-arrival brief | Extended family joining; larger rooms; upgraded finishes |
| Yirmiyahu 33 | Short taxi / Shabbos-walk time confirmed in your pre-arrival brief | Mehadrin (HaRav Efrati); Romema, close walk |
| Haneviim Boutique | Short taxi / not recommended for Shabbos visits to Ramot | Couples-only weekday visit; skip for Shabbos trips |
Our honest take: for a BMG Yerushalayim Shabbos, most families end up at Jerusalem Gate or Prima Palace — both are well-positioned for the Romema/Geulah area and JRM coordinates Shabbos meal logistics for you. For a weekday-only visit (chol hamoed, Chanukah day-trips), all four hotels work equally — it's just a short taxi to Ramot.

Talk to JRMWhat a BMG Yerushalayim Shabbos Looks Like
- Thursday: Parents land, check in, rest.
- Friday morning: Father may meet son at the yeshiva for shacharis and first seder (if the son's schedule permits).
- Friday afternoon: Erev Shabbos prep; Kotel erev-Shabbos if there's time.
- Friday night: Your son comes to the hotel for seudah — or JRM can coordinate a host-family seudah arrangement. The logistics for Ramot Shabbos visits are handled in your pre-arrival brief.
- Shabbos day: Shacharis at the hotel minyan, seudah shniya together, father accompanies son to a Rosh Yeshiva shiur in the afternoon (BMG Yerushalayim often opens shiurim to visiting fathers when coordinated in advance).
- Motzei Shabbos: Melaveh malka at the hotel.
- Sunday: Optional shacharis + first seder with son, then departure.
Booking Timing
BMG Yerushalayim parent trips are more flexible than Mir because there is no single marquee Shabbos that sells out every hotel at once. Even so: Chanukah fills 3-4 months out, Purim 2-3 months, end-of-zman 1-2 months. For Chanukah 2026, book now.
