Kashrus & Hechsher

Can I get kosher room service at a hotel in Israel?

Yes — at a fully kosher hotel, room service sits under the same supervision as the dining room, because the hechsher covers the entire food operation, including the room-service line. Haneviim Boutique in Jerusalem, for example, runs Badatz Eida HaChareidis across the entire food operation — including room service and banquet space. At a partially kosher hotel each outlet can sit under a different hechsher or none, so kosher room service must be verified, not assumed.

A hotel is not one kitchen. It has a main kitchen, a banquet kitchen, a dairy café, a lobby coffee setup, a minibar, and a room-service line — and each of those pieces can sit under a different hechsher, or under none at all. That is why "the hotel has a kosher restaurant" is not the same as "the room service is kosher." In a fully kosher hotel, the whole operation — including the room-service line — sits under a single, known kashrus authority with a mashgiach present during operating hours. That is the standard across the hotels we book: at Yirmiyahu 33 the entire kitchen runs under HaRav Efrati with a Mashgiach Temidi on premises whenever it operates.

The distinction shows up across Israel, too: The Jaffa in Tel Aviv only brought its room service under a kosher certificate on May 1, 2026, and Gai Beach in Tiberias is kosher under Rabbanut supervision with a dining room and room service — confirm directly with the hotel that room service specifically is covered. Two practical notes: in-room dining menus and hours vary by hotel and by season, so we confirm the room-service arrangement for your dates before booking — and on Shabbos, meals are cooked before Shabbos, served in the dining room, and reserved in advance rather than ordered to the room.
