Kashrus & Hechsher

Which kosher hotels in Jerusalem are glatt kosher?

All four of the kosher hotels JRM books are glatt-standard: Jerusalem Gate (glatt kosher under Badatz Mehadrin Rabbanut Yerushalayim plus OU), Haneviim Boutique (Glatt LeMehadrin under Badatz Eida HaChareidis), Prima Palace (Badatz Agudat Yisrael), and Yirmiyahu 33 (Mehadrin by HaRav Efrati). More broadly, the mehadrin and badatz hotels in Jerusalem serve glatt meat as a baseline; standard-Rabbanut hotels may not.

"Glatt" means the animal's lungs were free of problematic adhesions — a meat standard most chareidi and yeshivish families treat as a baseline, not an upgrade. In a Jerusalem hotel it tracks the hechsher: a mehadrin or badatz kitchen serves glatt meat as a matter of course, while a standard Rabbanut hotel may or may not. So the practical question is not only "is it glatt?" but "which hechsher?", because that is what determines it.

Among the four hotels we book, all are glatt-standard: Jerusalem Gate is glatt kosher under Badatz Mehadrin Rabbanut Yerushalayim with OU; Haneviim Boutique is Glatt LeMehadrin year-round under Badatz Eida HaChareidis; Prima Palace holds Badatz Agudat Yisrael; and Yirmiyahu 33 is Mehadrin by HaRav Efrati with a Mashgiach Temidi. If glatt — or glatt chalak / Beit Yosef specifically — is non-negotiable for your family, we confirm it in writing for your exact hotel and dates.
