Where can a frum family take a kosher holiday in northern Israel?
For a kosher holiday in northern Israel, the Kinneret is the hub — and it has three genuinely mehadrin options: Kinorot in Tiberias (chef dining under Badatz Eida HaChareidis), Nof Kinneret (Rabbanut Tiberias Mehadrin), and the Kinar Galilee resort on the northeastern shore, mehadrin under R' A.D. Auerbach with a shul, mikveh, eruv, and daily minyanim on the grounds. Ten more Tiberias hotels are kosher at standard Rabbanut — and two famous ones, the Ron Beach and the Restal, are not kosher at all.
The three mehadrin picks, starting with the highest hechsher in the city: Kinorot, opened in 2017 and built for the chareidi market, is the highest-hechsher hotel in Tiberias — chef dining under Eida supervision, with a year-round indoor heated pool (confirm the separate-use schedule for your dates). Nof Kinneret, on the hillside above the lake, is mehadrin under R' Binyamin Madar, the Rabbanut Tiberias mehadrin supervisor, at a mid-range price. And Kinar Galilee, the long-standing chareidi resort about 20 minutes around the lake on the northeastern shore, is the complete package: all products mehadrin under R' A.D. Auerbach, meat and poultry available in Eida HaChareidis, She'erit, Landau, and Rubin options, shmita l'chumra, plus a shul with sifrei Torah, a mikveh, an eruv, and daily minyanim year-round.
Two warnings the other lists owe you: the Ron Beach's own website describes its meals as non-kosher and the Restal holds no certificate — despite both appearing in "kosher Tiberias" roundups — and the "mehadrin" labels agencies attach to the Astoria, Caesar, Royal Plaza, and Leonardo Plaza failed verification against the hotels' own statements (they are solid standard Rabbanut). In the mainstream tier, the Leonardo Plaza has the best-documented Shabbos setup in the city (Shabbos elevator, Shabbos-key arrangement, a shul on-site plus three more in walking distance), and the all-inclusive Leonardo Club adds a hotplate and hot-water urn in the dining room. Like Eilat, the north pairs naturally with a Jerusalem base — tell us your dates and your standard, and we sequence the whole trip.
