Is there a Mediterranean Hotel in Jerusalem?
No currently operating Jerusalem hotel is named "Mediterranean." The historic Mediterranean Hotel operated in the Old City area only in the 19th century (1853–1897), and "Mediterranean Towers" (Migdalei HaYam HaTichon) in Arnona is a senior-living residence, not a hotel. If you saw "Mediterranean" attached to a Jerusalem hotel, it usually refers to a hotel restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine.
The name confuses three different things. First, the historic Mediterranean Hotel — a well-documented 19th-century hotel near the Pool of Hezekiah and later in the Amzalak building — closed over a century ago and survives only in history books. Second, Mediterranean Towers (Migdalei HaYam HaTichon) is a retirement-residence chain with a Jerusalem location in Arnona; it offers long-term senior living, not nightly hotel stays. Third, several Jerusalem hotels describe their kosher restaurants as "Mediterranean" cuisine, which is how the word most often appears in hotel search results today.
