Shabbos & Yom Tov

Are hotels and restaurants open in Israel during Sukkot?

Hotels are fully open all week — Sukkot is Israel's peak season. Restaurants and stores close only on the Yom Tov days (the first day and Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah), exactly as on Shabbos; during the five Chol HaMoed days in between nearly everything is open, and many kosher restaurants serve in their own sukkah.

The practical planning rule: treat the Yom Tov days like Shabbos (no transit, no commerce — in 2026 both fall on Shabbos anyway) and treat Chol HaMoed (September 27 – October 1, 2026) as the busiest open days of the Israeli year, with holiday hours and holiday crowds.

Kosher hotels serve Yom Tov meals in their sukkah; whether Chol HaMoed meals are served in the sukkah too varies by hotel — one of the specifications we confirm in writing before you book.
