Shabbos & Yom Tov

Do kosher hotels in Jerusalem have a Shabbos elevator?

All four Jerusalem hotels JRM books — Haneviim Boutique, Prima Palace, Yirmiyahu 33, and Jerusalem Gate — have a Shabbos elevator, confirmed per booking. Among the broader 23-hotel directory, most full-service mehadrin hotels have at least one Shabbos elevator; a small number of smaller or older properties do not — JRM confirms the arrangement in writing before every placement.

A Shabbos elevator runs on a pre-set timer, stopping automatically at every floor (or a set floor pattern) so guests never press a button on Shabbos or Yom Tov. All four JRM-booked properties — Haneviim Boutique (Badatz Eida HaChareidis), Prima Palace (Badatz Agudat Yisrael), Yirmiyahu 33 (Mehadrin—HaRav Efrati), and Jerusalem Gate (Badatz Mehadrin Rabbanut Yerushalayim plus OU) — have Shabbos elevator service. Prima Palace also uses mechanical Shabbos door-keys so guests never press a button for room entry on Shabbos or Yom Tov.

Among the broader Jerusalem mehadrin market, most mid-size and large hotels have a Shabbos elevator. The exception tends to be smaller boutique guesthouses or properties in older buildings with fewer or slower elevators; those may rely on low-floor room assignments instead. If a specific floor or proximity to a Shabbos elevator matters — for example for guests with limited mobility — JRM confirms the room assignment and elevator schedule in writing for any booking.
